Above are all the “major” cities I remember visiting in 2012. (See partial list of 2010 and 2011.) According to my passport, I entered 18 countries this year. Great.
Funny thing about being a young single girl, making Colombia my base, going around South America for a year, and not having a “real” job: The U.S. Immigration and Customs people secondary inspected me. I literally had to count all my currencies in front of them, and explain how “a pretty girl like me” ended up carrying that. “You must be rich, huh?” Fuck you, lady. I missed my connecting flight to JFK.
Another funny thing: In the waiting room, they sat me beside a handcuffed guy who was, allegedly, carrying drugs into the US. He reminded the officers of his right to eat and he ordered a pizza, and ice cream from Cold Stone Creamery - which exists in the wonderful, warm and friendly Orlando International airport. JFC.
I really should write a book. Or blog every week.
Most of my journal pages look like this. No line breaks, no dates, random things on the words… It’s impossible to read, apparently. My friend freaked one time, “You’re John Doe!” Se7en.
This week, I’ll be posting scanned pages from my moleskines. Most are the rejected, unfinished pages that won’t be shown in Prague.
This is the 2010/2011 partial list of the places I spent at least 5 nights at. I want this to be final, but I haven’t checked my passports or travelogue. This post is mostly for my friends, who can correct me. (The Philippines doesn’t count.) This is for Wanderslut Society*. They finally invited me!
I’m going to Shanghai next week. (It’s on the list already!) Alone. I’m usually alone. In Thailand, Mexico, and Greece, I wasn’t too alone. If any of you guys want to meet, you know what to do.
*Verifiable lists/stats are their thing. They also want a list of backpacker friends. It’s their way of making you categorize the world, region-ize your friends, and see if your friend distribution (across the ENTIRE world) is as impressive as theirs. I’m kidding. The wandersluts are amazing.
